I seem to have been on the Echosmith promotion tour the last few months, having seen them at Paste Studio and Songkick even before they kicked off their Lonely Generation Tour at le poisson rouge in the Village in NYC. This sibling band (Sydney, Noah and Graham Sierota), with their dad as manager, producer, tour manager and collaborator, understands how to write hooks for pop music and puts on a great show.
The first opening act was fifteen year old actor/dancer/influencer Jayden Bartels. It’s pretty incredible how much she has accomplished at such a young age; appearances on various television shows, 3 million followers on Instagram and 700,000 on YouTube, and her debut EP “what really matters?” release last September. She took the stage with ukelele in hand and started nervously but grew more confident towards the end of the set.

The next band, Weathers, were a revelation for me. I had hope to catch them earlier in the day at their Paste Studio session but couldn’t. While the Paste session was good, you have to see them in a full concert setting. The energy that this band brings is out of this world. Led by frontman Cameron Boyer along with guitarist Cameron Olsen, bassist Brennen Bates and drummer Cole Carson, they blew through songs from their debut EP “Kids In The Night”, including their hit “Happy Pills”, as well as their latest singles. Definitely check them out as they support Echosmith on their US tour.

When it came time for the main event, the fans were more than ready. It turns out Echosmith drummer Graham Sierota was sick at this show but he gamely played anyway (he did have to sit out a show a couple of days later). Echosmith pulled out all the stops with big balloons bouncing in the crowd and confetti exploding on the fans when the balloons popped. Dad Jeffery David even came out and played keyboard on one song. The members of this band really know how to please the crowd. For a fun G-rated time at a pop concert, you can’t beat Echosmith.
