Swedish pop star Tove Lo (aka Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson), known not just for her danceable tunes and high energy live shows but also for her sexually direct lyrics and for flashing the crowd, hit NYC for two shows as part of her Sunshine Kitty Tour. Having celebrated her record release back in September at Bowery Ballroom, two sold out shows at Brooklyn Steel shows exactly how popular Tove Lo has grown in a short time.

Opening for Tove Lo was fellow Scandinavian and sometime collaborator Alma (aka Alma-Sofia Miettinen). This green haired Finnish spark plug took the venue from zero to 100 right away with her punk/pop songs including her last single “Bad News Baby“.

If you love Tove Lo, this show was everything you could hope for. The 23 song set allowed everyone to party through the night. She was joined on stage by Alma for “Bad As The Boys” and by Sean Paul for their smash hit “Calling On Me“, the second being an incredible surprise. With the way she was dancing and moving around the stage, you wouldn’t know that she fractured her ankle fairly early in the show during “Talking Body”. In fact, even she didn’t realize it until afterwards. Energy and adrenaline obviously had her so pumped up that the pain was negligible. Much love to her for a speedy recovery.
