As part of the promotion of their new CD, “The Lion the Beast the Beat”, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals actually played twice the same day. The first was an acoustic show at the Best Buy store in Union Square and included a signing of their new CD. The event was nice and personal but too short. However, we did get to interact with Grace, Scott and Benny afterwards during the signing.
The second was sponsored by Rolling Stone Magazine and tickets were obtained via online contests. The crowd was pretty crazed and there were a number of people with VIP access so, unfortunately, we ended up towards the far right side of the stage. However, Grace’s exuberance and the general energy of the band were tremendous and made for an exceptional show. Bonus: I managed to snag setlists from both events!
