This was the first Fiona Apple show in NYC in years and came just before she released her new album “The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do”. As usual, quite a mouthful. The die-hard fans were out waiting early at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, some just hoping they could score a last minute ticket.
Fiona’s guitarist, Blake Mills, opened the show. While I’m not a huge fan, I found the crowd to be pretty rude. The talking was so loud at times that I couldn’t really hear him…and I was right up against the stage. When Fiona came out, she voiced her displeasure and rightfully so.

Fiona’s set was pretty interesting and included some of her new songs. She accompanied Anything We Want by banging on a copper pipe…that was AWESOME! She also brought a cutout of her dog Janet because she missed her. (Janet died in November 2012 prompting Fiona to cancel the rest of her tour). She sounded great though.
