Austin based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mobley (aka Anthony Watkins II) stopped by the offices of LiveNation in NYC to preview his latest record “Cry Havoc!” ahead of its release on September 23rd. I first saw Mobley at Rockwood Music Hall back in 2016 (see photos here) before he started playing drums as well as guitar and keyboards.
The show took place in the lobby with a small number of industry people in attendance. Mobley had to keep encouraging the audience to move forward, making fun of the crowd a bit for being “too cool to engage”. He did get four volunteers to participate in one of this songs where they held an electronic device in one hand and help up their other hand. When Mobley slapped their hands, they made different sounds. Technology!! Pretty cool. He was constantly bouncing around taking turns on guitar, keys and drums. He closed out his set with a song he wrote for his wife, telling us a touching story of how he first played the song for her. He did come out for an acoustic encore before finishing and joining the audience for some drinks and chats.
