Blues/rock guitarist and singer/songwriter Samantha Fish, in the midst of a worldwide tour supporting her seventh studio album “Faster”, stopped by Asbury Hall on Tuesday night. Winner of many awards for her blues albums and performances, her new record does skew a bit more pop. That being said, her consummate guitar playing is evident and, either way, it was her electrifying show that I was looking forward to.
Opening for Fish was blues stalwart Jonathan “Boogie” Long. His latest album “Parables of a Southern Man” was just released a few days prior to the show and he showed everyone exactly why he was named Guitar Center’s “King of the Blues”.

Buffalo fans are no stranger to Samantha Fish. Members of her “Fish Army” were even handing out pins before the show! That’s dedication and she definitely showed everyone why that dedication is well-deserved. She kicked off the show with three songs off her new record before reaching back into her discography. I love great guitar playing and she showed her chops with some insane guitar solos! After a couple of mid-set acoustic songs, she played an insane rendition of “Black Wind Howlin'” before closing out with “Dream Girl” and Bulletproof” from her 2019 album “Kill or Be Kind”. She was joined onstage by Jonathan Long for the encore of “Bitch on the Run” and finished the night off with some incredible energy. New fans were made this night and old fans went home happy.
