It started off as a beautiful afternoon in Central Park but ended with lightning and a downpour. Alternative band Guster is touring on the heels of their eighth record “Look Alive” with Brooklyn-based indie band Rubblebucket joining them for the last couple of shows. This Summerstage show was a benefit to support the City Parks Foundation.
Rubblebucket had gone through much change and turmoil (including the break-up of leads Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth and recovery from cancer and alcoholism) prior to the release of their 2018 record “Sun Machine”. They haven’t missed a beat and certainly brought the party to Central Park!
The clouds started to roll in just before Guster took the stage to loud cheers from the crowd. They kicked off their set with “What You Wish For” from their hit 1999 record “Lost and Gone Forever”. However, the rain started to come down four songs into the set and, with heavy lightning and a downpour, the show was cancelled and everyone sent home through the flooded walkways of Central Park.
