You may be familiar with British punk band COUNTERFEIT lead singer and guitarist Jamie Campbell Bower from his acting work on the Twilight trilogy, Mortal Instruments, or Sweeney Todd. I wasn’t but found out quickly as I waited on line with his many fans. Don’t let that sway you into thinking that he’s just a pretty face. COUNTERFEIT is no counterfeit when it comes to rocking out. That being said, sometimes it was hard to tell what was louder, the hard hitting guitars and drums or the screaming fans!
Opening for COUNTERFEIT were a trio of brothers from Ottawa called dubé. Having grown up in the public eye, their previous clean image has evolved with their latest video where you see them rolling a joint with pages torn from a Bible. Their stage act is spot on and you can see they’re very accomplished musicians to boot. Guitarist Liam even played a song with a home-made guitar he made out of a hockey stick! Keep an eye on these guys!
All hell broke loose when COUNTERFEIT finally took the stage. On this chilly day in May, things were extremely hot inside Knitting Factory. With the crowd head banging and jumping, Bowers and band played many songs from their latest record as well as older songs. Jamie and Sam Bower came into the crowd to play a few songs, with Sam climbing on the shoulders on one fan who had traveled from Europe to see the band! Good times!!
